I have a 12.3hh , 13yr old Australian Riding Pony, she is very well educated and has competed at many events over the years. She was left in the paddock for the last few years in which time she had a foal.  She is extremely easy to float/catch/feet trim. She is very affectionate and loves being handled and groomed.  We bought her for my 11yr old daughter, who is a beginnner. She is very forward, however behaves perfectly when she rides her on the lunge during lessons. When not on the lead can quickly pick up the pace and start to throw her head a bit.  Problem is my daughter feels the pony is ready to take off at any moment....I guess being forward, she seems to be losing confidence. Can a pony like this be retrained for a beginner or should I look for a quieter pony?
